Music exists within the elements. You can hear rhythm from the water inside a leaky faucet. A melodic chirp of a bird. Crackling embers of a fire. The ground beneath our dancing feet. Transfer those senses to the strum of electric guitar strings. The pulse of a paradiddle. The magic in a melody. Do you hear it?

Close your eyes. Turn on some tunes. Count out loud. What do you first feel move? Do you tap your toes? Clap your hands? Buzz your lips? How about those hips? Still can’t find it? Start to dance. Shake your sillies. It doesn’t take much, really.

Music provides a quality of life that resides inside each and every one of us, enriching the human condition to its core. Practice an inner narrative to reflect the facts: music is a personal experience and should be nurtured with kindness. We owe it to ourselves to enjoy music and embrace learning it.
